Let’s say that we left our body to its own devices. It wants to enjoy the pleasures of this world and have all its benefits now. That would direct our attention to the world and its cares. With our attention focused in that direction, our eyes would be observing all of those things. And, all those things are darkness.

God calls spiritual truth (spiritual things that are true), light; and He calls all things that are not true, darkness. There is no truth in the things of the world. We would be looking at and believing lies. We would think that everything was normal and right.

If the Holy Spirit didn’t warn us (John 16:8), we wouldn’t find out we were believing and living a lie until we either died or the judgment day came. We would have been blind to all the truths of God. That would be great darkness.

At the judgment day, we will be able to see truth and lies clearly. In that moment, we would be totally willing to live our life a whole different way. We would know and understand what was valuable and what wasn’t. We would have a clear picture of what was important and what wasn’t. Everything would be obvious to us. The only problem is, it would be too late to change a thing. That would be great darkness for eternity.

God wants all humans to make all of these discoveries now BEFORE it is too late.
