Mat 7:15-20 (NIV) Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, BY THEIR FRUIT YOU WILL RECOGNIZE THEM.

If It Walks, Smells, Sounds,
And Looks Like A Sheep
These people come to all of mankind as representatives of God. They present themselves as saviors from the desperate situations of the world. All this sounds good until they explain that the major ills of the world are being created by Christians. Sometimes they will broaden their attack and say that religious people are dangerous.

They will represent the concept that all the world’s problems will go away if we just get rid of religious people. They will often talk in nice tones. They will appear to really have people’s needs and suffering in mind.
They will look like and sound like a loving, caring person. But, on the inside, they are a ferocious wolf.

“Watch out for false prophets.” That sounds like the road sign that says: “Watch for falling rocks.” If we are driving and rocks start falling down the hill, we will survive only if the rocks fall far enough ahead of us or far enough behind us that they miss us. If these people are going to come disguised as sheep, we are going to be faced with a real problem. Grandma knew you can’t tell a book by its cover. But, grandma never came up with a solution on how to find out what kind of a book it is without opening it. However, Jesus solved the problem in one easy concept.
