Eph 6:17 (NIV) Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Look at the skill that is exhibited as Jesus battles with the devil. The right Scripture at the right time. The concern we have is the fact that it is Jesus using these Scriptures. It comes easy for the King of kings and Lord of lords to do spiritual warfare with the devil. Have you seen my spiritual swordsmanship? I am fortunate when I don’t cut my own foot off. What good is the example of Jesus in action being compared to me? In Ephesians the Word of God is called the sword of the Spirit. When we yield to the Holy Spirit allowing Him to bring the right Scripture into play, it is then that we can have the same success as Jesus.

John 14:26 (NIV) But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will REMIND you of everything I have said to you.

The Holy Spirit is our Counselor, Teacher, and Reminder for using the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. He is on the same level as Jesus in successful sword play. If we learn how to properly yield to Him, we will win against the temptations we face, hands down.

2 Cor 10:4 (NIV) The weapons WE fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have DIVINE power to demolish strongholds.

Rom 8:37 (NIV) No, in all these things WE are more than conquerors THROUGH HIM Who loved us.

1 John 4:4 (NIV) YOU, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because THE ONE WHO IS IN YOU is greater than the one who is in the world.

Our battles get easier as we start to realize that the battle is fought together with the Holy Spirit. All we have to do is use God’s provisions God’s way. Then, we yield to God’s power to first change us and then work through us. Finally, we must be sure to give God all the glory. Once we grow into all of these things, our life and ministry takes on major changes. We just need to make sure that we and those we are training are being exposed to good quality spiritual weaponry instruction. It is a major loss to have a dynamic minister of Christ be knocked out of the battle even for short periods of time.
