Here’s The Disciple’s Lifestyle
This will be the big test issue. The worry that will tear us out of our commitment to seek first God’s kingdom and righteousness will be about tomorrow. Things may look very scary today. But, all our needs will have been met. Today we are still provided for. But tomorrow, unless something happens, we are dead. The test will be whether or not we will ignore the worries of tomorrow and just thank God for the provisions of today. The temptation will be concerning us doing something today so as to protect us from the problems of tomorrow. We will feel that unless we do something today, we will go under tomorrow. To wait until tomorrow will seem like it is going to be too late. Jesus is telling us not to do it. He is saying that God will keep coming through. How? No one knows. That is God’s business. We have to believe that He will. The only way we are going to keep believing is to submerge ourselves in His Word, prayer, and anything else that He directs us to submit ourselves to. We will need all the spiritual input we can get. It is a spiritual battle and we must fight to win. |
Here’s Your Assignment
If God tells us to do something today, then we have permission to do that much. We are to seek Him and find out what He wants done. When we put an all-out effort into seeking God, He is able to communicate with us clearly. If we are busying ourselves with a whole lot of activities that we HOPE will solve the problem, we don’t have time to spend with God. God is telling us to use the time to seek Him first. He will take care of tomorrow, if we will seek Him first.
If we have allowed our self to get very low spiritually, we probably won’t be able to stand the pressure. The worry will be too great concerning what might happen to us if we don’t get out there and DO something. It isn’t in our best interest to let ourselves get depleted when things are going fine. When things are going fine, we are usually very busy working on a job. When our time is used up making money, we fail to do what it takes to keep seeking God first. Then all of a sudden something happens to shake our life. Our spiritual strength is low and we are too worried about tomorrow to pour ourselves into seeking God. |
