Jesus is explaining what spiritual salt and spiritual light look like. It is different than the ways of the world. Sometimes we just want to walk up to someone and lead them to Christ. We want to forget all relationships and get the job done. As we have often said, God is all about relationships.

How are we going to look and taste different than the world? By loving our neighbors and our enemies. God sets the example. He gives good things to unrighteous people. Why does He sometimes treat the righteous and the unrighteous the same? He blesses the righteous because they are His children. He blesses the unrighteous because He wants them to be able to see what a wonderful God He is. This makes it possible for them to see and turn to Him.
