It all starts with knowledge. A lot of our spiritual knowledge came through personal, spiritual experiences. Someone introduced us into a saving relationship with Jesus. And the things we experienced taught us a lot about Him, right? Also, through having that experience we got to know Him personally. We learned about Him and we got to know Him intimately. Even more knowledge came through the study of the Bible. From the Bible our personal relationship grew and our knowledge grew. The Bible keeps helping us to KNOW Him better and it helps us learn more information ABOUT Him as well.

I know this all sounds like beginner stuff. But, it is and it isn’t. Many Christian leaders get too busy to study their Bibles for their own spiritual growth. Just because a chef served food to two hundred people doesn’t mean he got fed. There must be times every day that he stops and eats. Also, his nutritional needs may not be the same as the people he served. He may need food with much greater nutritional value. This is definitely the case with ministers ministering to the intense needs of other people. They must spend time feeding on the things of God for their own spiritual maintenance and growth.
