In Matthew and Luke we see the first issue being the letting of light shine out of us without any obstructions. Matthew goes on to say that this light is the presentation of our good deeds so people can see them and give God the glory. But the Holy Spirit in Luke covers how God’s light gets inside us (this is also covered in Matthew 6:22-23).

Our eyes are the opening for getting the light into our bodies. It says that if our eyes are good, that will cause our whole body to be full of light. What would be some things that would make our eyes good? Healthy eyes, eyes not obstructed by other things, and eyes that are looking in the right direction would be eyes that are able to see God’s light.

You are the light of the world. We, the light of the world, are not a light in our own selves.

As we have seen, the light of God goes into us through our spiritual eyes. As our physical eyes are the light opening for our body, our spiritual eyes are the light opening for our spirit. If our spiritual eyes are going to receive the light of God, they too are going to have to be healthy eyes, eyes not obstructed by other things, and eyes that are looking in the right direction. Let’s take a look at what the Bible has to say about each of these conditions.
