Mat 5:10-12 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Let Me Help You With That
Here are the works that Jesus did in Peter’s life just in the area of fearing persecution so much that he would denied his Lord:

Mat 26:31 (NIV) Then Jesus told them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of Me, for it is written: ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.” Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of You, I never will.”

“I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown Me three times.” But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with You, I will never disown You.” And all the other disciples said the same.
Peter thought that determination would be enough to get him through this issue. The declarations and promises we make to God are always based on us. We really don’t have the power to promise God that we will do anything for Him.

In this situation Jesus is telling the disciples that they are going to run. We may not like what we hear God saying to us; but, what He says is the way it is. We can ask Him to change us and the situation. However, if He says no, we might as well get ready to experience what He says is going to happen.
