Good Question!
1 Tim 3:5 (NIV) (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)
Isn’t that a good question? If the people closest to us don’t like us, we definitely have a problem in our leadership, right? So, the first test in our relationship skills is the kind of spouse relationship we have. In other words, if we succeed there, we are closer to being ready to succeed in ministry.

Now we all know that the reason we are having a hard time succeeding in our marriage relationship is because of the inadequacies of our spouse, right? If God would have just given us a better spouse, we would be a raving success. People like us, who talk like this, usually say the same thing about our ministerial assignments. We can even secretly feel this way about our lot in life. If God had only done a better job choosing our parents, siblings, school teachers, etc., we would have a much better life. How does God expect us to succeed with the environment we are currently stuck with?
