Mat 5:21-22 (NIV) You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ (Amp: speaks contemptuously and insultingly) is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Motives Matter

There is one question that always needs to be asked.

Why are we doing what we are doing?

We need to know the answer to this every minute of every day. It is so easy to get off track from God’s purposes. What does God want? We have looked a lot at the need to consult God’s will, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Now let’s look at God’s “why.” A lot of the time we know what God’s Word says and the Holy Spirit has helped us to know what it means. But, do we know WHY it says it? Paul, through the Spirit, gives a great example of this.
