Jesus In Action
Luke 23:33-37 (NIV) When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified Him, along with the criminals--one on His right, the other on His left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up His clothes by casting lots. The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at Him. They said, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ of God, the Chosen One.” The soldiers also came up and mocked Him. They offered Him wine vinegar and said, “If You are the king of the Jews, save Yourself.”

This is the Jesus-reaction to His enemies. When Jesus shines through us, this is what they see. It is easy to see how we, as disciples, could exhibit attitudes that would distort or totally block the character of Christ from emanating through us to others. It would be easy to have a few impurities in our lives that would show up at moments like these. Just as impurities block the power of God and keep it from meeting physical needs through us, they also do in keeping Him from meeting spiritual needs. People’s eternal destinies are at stake here. A love reaction at a moment like this is very powerful to them.
