Mat 6:19-21 (NIV) Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Delayed Gratification
Jesus knows the struggle of the body against the human spirit. He doesn’t just say that we aren’t going to get any rewards and things of value. He simply tells us where we get them. If there weren’t going to be any rewards, we would find it impossible to put our trust in God. Not that we would miss understanding that God is a reward in Himself.

Delayed Gratification Is Different
Than No Gratification
The way the human spirit wins over the human body is to start seeing eternity as delayed gratification.
If we have things of wealth and value to look forward to, we can suffer some resistance from the body. We can superimpose our spiritual joy and excitement concerning heavenly values or benefits over the bad attitudes of the body.

We, the spirit person, can gain power and momentum over wealth and value conflicts created by our body. The question is, how are we going to get an overall eternal perspective?
