Now, can we have as many gods as we want, make idols and worship them, use God’s name however we want, forget the Sabbath, dishonor our parents, murder, commit adultery, steal, give false witness, covet our neighbor’s house, possessions, or wife? No, that hasn’t changed. We still can’t break these commandments. But, we still are not under the law. Being under the law didn’t change anything for those under it. And, it wouldn’t do anything for us either.

Just because the law says don’t murder, doesn’t stop people from murdering. Love, on the other hand, put in the hearts of God’s people, will stop them from murdering.

Jer 31:33-34 (NIV) “This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the LORD. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
