Jesus’ Sermon On The Mount
Study Five

Am I Blocking Your View?
Zephaniah 3:11-12 (NIV) On that day you will not be put to shame for all the wrongs you have done to Me, because I will remove from this city those who rejoice in their pride. Never again will you be haughty on My holy hill. But I will leave within you the meek and humble, who trust in the name of the LORD.
Here we see such words as “wrongs you have done to Me”, “those who rejoice in their pride”, and “be haughty on My Holy Hill.” In contrast we see words like “the meek and humble” and “[those] who trust in the Name of the Lord”. If meekness is like looking at beautiful things through a totally transparent glass, then pride is like trying to view things through a brick wall. Jesus is meek because He wants people to be able to see the Father through His life.
