JESUS’ MINISTRY: Mat 4:18-20 (NIV) As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” At once they left their nets and followed Him.

Test Me On Something Else
We can count on the fact that God will come walking by our lives and ask us to do something that will require total faith and trust. That “something” that He will require will be just as mind blowing as Him asking us to quit our job and follow Him.

The issue to be dealt with right now is whether or not we would be ready to do it immediately. Is there anything in our lives that would be too important, too precious for us to drop it and follow Him?
When we see the disciples quitting their jobs and we start applying that to our own lives, we think of poverty, not knowing where our next meal will come from, God taking us to the brink of disaster and saving us at the last moment, our homes being foreclosed on, and all kinds of worst case scenarios.

Matthew 8:14 (NIV) When Jesus came into Peter’s house, He saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.

Peter still has a house? Peter still has a mother-in-law who is willing to live with him? Peter has a mother-in-law living in his house and eating his food?
