It’s All Under Control

Rom 8:9 (NIV) You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.

This Scripture makes it clear that everyone who becomes a Christian has the Spirit living in them. God wants to unite with our spirit on a Spirit-to-spirit basis. And, salvation makes that relationship real.

John 14:16-17 (NIV) And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.

This was before Jesus had gone back to Heaven and the Spirit had come.

John 16:7 (NIV) But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
