Our Moment Of Decision
The way to cease serving money is to start seeing a continuous supply coming from God. If God gave us our daily clothes, then He will repeat the process tomorrow. If God can be trusted to clothe grass that only lasts for a moment, how much more will He replenish our supply if we share it? Now we get down to the deadly issue of faith. Heb 11:6 (NIV) And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Jesus is trying to bring us into constant faith. The above Scripture is putting our relationship with God on the line. That is what Jesus is doing with the concept of serving two masters. In other words, we are looking at what it takes to make Jesus the Lord of our life. We cannot please God unless we believe that He exists and that HE REWARDS THOSE WHO EARNESTLY SEEK HIM. Little faith is a deadly thing. It can’t trust or believe in God’s rewards. Little faith is on again then off again. |
Sometimes it trusts God and then it drops out. Little faith is a problem that keeps us from pleasing God. Without [constant] faith it is impossible to please God. I know I added the word “constant” to this verse. Let me show you why.
James 1:6-8 (NIV) But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. All we have to do is picture the ebb and flow of a wave in the sea. As it moves forward, it is like a person who is currently believing. Then as it flows backward, it is like a person doubting. This is a person who can’t make up their mind. One minute they believe that God can and will supply all their needs. Then the next minute they are putting their trust in their own plan for financial supply. That man should not think he will receive ANYTHING from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. When the Bible says “anything” as it relates to getting anything from the Lord, it is dealing with a vital issue. We HAVE to believe that God will replenish our supply, if we share with needy Christians. |
