Jesus Set The Example
John 5:30 (NIV) By Myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and My judgment is just, for I seek not to please Myself but Him Who sent Me.
“By Myself I can do nothing.” If that is the attitude of Jesus, as He did His earthly ministry, then we definitely need the same dependency on the Holy Spirit. Jesus is setting us an example of how the relationship has to be started and maintained in us. The ministers in the book of Acts set the same example as they did their ministry. Acts 4:31-33 (NIV) After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. |
All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all.
We have to always be looking and listening for indications from Him. Most of the time God has other plans; and, His plans are always better. Sometimes it is hard to plan your day. In the two illustrations of Philip and Peter it would be pretty hard for anyone to miss what plan God wanted implemented. God was really making His plans clear. However, sometimes His plans aren’t so obvious. |
