You’re Probably Wondering Why
I Called This Meeting If we can get a crowd, most of us aren’t going anywhere. Okay? All our ministerial efforts have been to develop a crowd. How can we know whether or not we are a great preacher, if not by the size of the crowd we attract? A lot of the time these were LARGE crowds that gathered around Jesus. What an opportunity “for the work of God!” This has got to be what Jesus was trying to produce.
All that powerful preaching and teaching, all those impressive miracles had to be for the purpose of building a LARGE crowd. Get the offering plates. Find a choice piece of land. Where are the builders? We have ourselves an alive and thriving Synagogue (church). Now it is all coming clear. The “go into all” method is used just long enough to get a crowd to start coming to the building. Wow, what a great strategy! |
Okay, here is another mistake Jesus made (Just kidding). He sat down. When we speak to a crowd, we stand up. We want a microphone, huge speakers, and an amplification system that will knock the socks off of the people on the back row. When you sit down, you can’t really talk loud. The crowd can’t see you very well when you sit down. Why did He sit down? “His disciples came to Him, and He began to teach THEM....” Oh! This really is a disciple training system.
Jesus isn’t just teaching the ministry to them. He is doing the ministry in front of them. They are getting firsthand experience based on real life. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then exposure to real-life training is worth a billion words. This is an important aspect of Jesus’ training that just cannot be scrapped. |
