We all know the Bible is the answer to all the problems we face. A lot of us spend limited time in it, however. The Bible encourages us to spend a lot of time in it. That alone gives us the confidence that it will change everything. Below is the procedure I recommend for moving into a closer personal relationship with Jesus and learning more about Him.

1. Read the Bible or book of the Bible straight through as fast as possible.

2. Read the Bible or book of the Bible slowly and allow the information to attach and categorize itself in your mind.

3. While reading through slowly, underline verses that the Holy Spirit prompts you to underline.

4. Once the slow reading of the Bible or book of the Bible is finished, read and then reread the underlined verses until they become more familiar.

5. Study each verse until the basic concepts can be expressed (reading the passages above and below is always helpful).

6. Study each verse until you can express what it says in your own words.

7. Start picking out the most outstanding verses, memorize, and practice quoting them verbatim.

8. For verses that need even greater attention, do word studies on them.

9. Do topical studies by finding verses that address the same, similar, and related subjects.

10. Pray over all of the information you have discovered and ask God what to keep and what to get rid of.
