Mat 5:14-16 (NIV) You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.


2. A Person Blinding Their Own Eyes:

Mat 13:15 (NIV) For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.

This is a condition that is self-inflicted. A person, once drawn by the Father, has to decide whether they are going to see and respond to His marvelous light.

We can expose them to all the wonderful things of God. We can answer any questions they have. But, they will ultimately make the final decision (Hebrews 6:4-6). We will look at this issue again as an obstruction later.

The condition we are looking at now as a disease, starts as an obstruction caused by eyelids. Then as the eyelids stay closed, the eyes become diseased. Here we are going to deal with it as an eye disease. It used to be just an obstruction caused by their eye lids.
They obstructed their own view of the things of God by closing their eyes. However, if they continue to respond to the things of God in this manner, it will turn into a permanent condition. That permanent condition is what we need to look at for right now.

These people have seen much of the things of God and have rejected Him and His provisions over and over again. Now their heart has become hardened and they can no longer open their eyes.

We can tell, as we work with them, that they know a lot of what we are talking about. However, they also know a lot about all the objections that can be used against Christianity. They may be the same ones the honest inquirers or sincere seekers use to challenge whether or not Christianity is real. But, these objections aren’t being used to find out whether or not Christianity is real; they are being used to keep Christianity out of their lives.

A final decision has been made.
