Righteousness I Thought You Liked Me Better
Acts 10:34 (NIV) Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism.”
The Pharisee system of righteousness draws attention to the special abilities, talents, determination, and skills of the human. When potential trainees look at them and then examine themselves, they feel pretty overwhelmed. That righteousness system requires a person to be born with the right foundational qualifications. But, Jesus was able to open His arms to everyone. The more weaknesses they had the better. |
His righteousness system was so simple and open, even little children could become a part of it.
Mat 18:3-6 (NIV) And He said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes a little child like this in My name welcomes Me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” |
