Mat 5:25-26 (NIV) Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.

Shouldn't Things Be Fair?
Luke 6:34-35 (NIV) And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ lend to ‘sinners,’ expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
What is important to God? Relationships. This guy deserved to get his inheritance from his brother. Why should he be warned about greed?

In this man’s case he wasn’t being covetous. He was simply wanting what he had coming to him. His brother was cheating him out of his portion of the inheritance. That isn’t fair. Let’s take a look at how God views this kind of thing.


You Are Missing The Point
1 Cor 6:7 (NIV) The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?
