Mat 5:38-42 (NIV) You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ BUT I TELL YOU, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Don’t Sleep With The Enemy
1 Cor 7:10-11 (NIV) To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.

Even though being abused by a spouse isn’t grounds for divorce, it is grounds for separation.

Turning the other cheek is only for those who need to see the love of God in the midst of a single adversarial occurrence.
If we are in a captured situation where we don’t have a choice but to be exposed to continued abuse, then it is being forced on us like it was for Stephen.

But, if we do have a choice and we continue to allow ourselves to be slapped, forced to do things we shouldn’t do, or have things taken away from us; then we are casting our pearls before pigs. To do so is to be disobedient to God’s Word. We must separate ourselves from the abusive situation and move on to those who will appreciate the things of God.
