Mat 5:43-47 (NIV) You have heard that it was said, “Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.” But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?

The Building Must Fit The Foundation
For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building. Those who are being introduced to the saving power of Jesus Christ are God’s building. The first issue in a building is the foundation. The foundation is going to determine the size, shape, and weight of the building that can be built on it. Jesus explains to us how to get a proper foundation built in our lives.

Luke 6:47-49 (NIV) I will show you what he is like who comes to Me and hears My words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears My words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.
The three steps to getting Jesus as the foundation for your life is to come to Him, hear His words, and put them into practice. Those who don’t come to Him won’t get Him as their foundation. Those who come to Him and only listen to His words won’t get Him as their foundation. But, those who come to Him, hear His words, and put them into practice will get Him as their eternal foundation. Now they are ready to have a structure, a building built on that foundation.

Paul went around building foundations. After building as many foundations in an area as he possibly could, he left the building of the structure up to others. By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. The foundation that Paul built was designed for the exclusive purpose of God. Not everyone who ministered in the lives of the people Paul laid a foundation in, were honest, selfless people.
