My Life Is Fully Charged
The Holy Spirit can do more than just teach us the concepts of Jesus. He can empower us with the righteous requirements of the law. He can install His character in us so we can live a life pleasing to God. This is what Romans 8:4, Galatians 5:22-25, and Galatians 2:20 are talking about.
Rom 8:4 (NIV) In order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. Gal 5:22-25 (NIV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. |
Gal 2:20 (NIV) I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.
The Holy Spirit is preparing us for the life of Christ. Those who continue to be poor in spirit will be taken to a place where Jesus becomes our life source. He helps us die out to ourselves and we let Jesus live through us. But, the challenge of the mature Christians and ministers is the success we have already had. We know we didn't make the changes or cause the breakthroughs; but, we still struggle with feeling like we at least had a little bit to do with it. Little roots of pride and self-appreciation are constantly trying to work their way into our thinking. It becomes very important for us to tell God that we are who we are and are doing what we are doing because His Holy Spirit has done such a wonderful work in us. |
