Only God Can Do All Of It
Phil 1:6 (NIV) Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Some then decided that they didn’t need any more help from God. They were forgiven. Grace was covering all their past, present, and future sins. They have their get-out-of-jail-free card. They decided it was time to go back to living their life without any further intervention from God. They were back to business sinning as usual. What do we have here, Christians living like sinners; or, do we have sinners calling themselves Christians? |
There is one major way to tell the difference.
This part is a vital message to those who just want to escape the penalty and punishment of sin; but, want to keep on sinning. These are people who want the blood of Jesus to cleanse or make okay the sins they have, are, and will commit. They want to sin; but they don’t want these deeds to be considered sins. They are expecting salvation to turn these sinful deeds into pure deeds that are no longer being condemned by God. These people need to be told that this isn’t what salvation is doing. It has come to change their behavior. |
