God’s deliverance from the evil one, the devil, doesn’t consist of us having a barrier build around us where we no longer have to deal with the devil.

Being delivered from the evil one is taking an element of his power away from him as it relates to us. He still has the power to tempt us. But, before we pray this part of the prayer each day, we are open to satanic influences that are too powerful to resist. In other words, we feel a pressure that is over our head. When we invite God into the situation, the victory of our life is changed drastically.

Eph 6:10 (NIV) Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

This is the Scripture that comes just before the Bible goes into the issues of the full armor of God. The full armor would be useless without God’s power. However, God’s power isn’t going to be used by Him exclusively. We must be strong in the Lord.

If God isn’t getting our cooperation, we will be delivered but defeated. That doesn’t seem possible, but, it is. The provisions of deliverance will be in us. But, we will not have done what it takes to use that provision. Therefore, we get defeated even thought we could have won.
