Jesus’ Sermon On The Mount
Study Thirty-Nine

What NOT To Do With Jesus’ Words
This Scripture is making sure that we understand that it is “put[ting] them into practice” that makes the difference. In both situations, the person heard “these words of mine.” That by itself didn’t make the difference.

Hearing His words are vital. That is one of the reasons for this study. We are operating under the belief that Jesus’ words are vital to us and the rest of the world.
We are giving special respect and credence to Jesus’ words over and above all the other parts of the Bible.

All the Bible is vital to us. However, Jesus and His words are superior to all other words in the Bible. What He says becomes first priority because He puts special emphases on His own words. As Jesus is talking throughout the Gospels, He makes it clear that we are directly responsible for what He said. Then as He was leaving the planet, He made it clear that He wanted His own words taught to others.

This concludes your studying for today.
Just spend some time thinking and praying about
what you have studied so far.
Let Jesus use these truths to change your life.
