Acts 2:1-4 (NIV) When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Dead Men Walking
Gal 2:20 (NIV) I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.
If the life I live is the life of Christ, it is going to be really hard to take credit for anything. Well, except for those stupid things I do that I know aren’t Jesus living in me. So, what do we have here? Every time something great happens to or through me, Jesus gets the glory. And, every time something wrong happens, I get the blame for it. That is pretty much what you are going to see happening in Jesus’ disciple training system. Is this something you want to sign up for? Every time you open your mouth, Jesus points out that you said something dumb. No wonder we revamped the original discipleship training system. |
Consider this statement: A disciple isn’t Jesus’ disciple until Jesus says they are.
If he hasn’t been taught: 1. To obey everything Jesus commanded the original disciples to obey; 2. How to obey everything Jesus commanded the original disciples to obey, he isn’t ready to get involved in the “Great Commission.” Now I know that Jesus’ disciples weren’t perfect. And, I am pretty sure we aren’t going to be perfect while living on this planet. However, there are some nonnegotiable issues that some of us have made negotiable. These are the issues that cause our life and ministry to be very disappointing to us and to God. |
