Mat 5:29-30 (NIV) If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

If Good People Don’t Go, Who Does?
Jesus teaches His disciples to make all these eternal things clear to those they are ministering to. Many people believe all good people will go to heaven. The Bible makes it clear that this is not true.

Eph 2:8-9 (NIV) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.

We have to make sure no one is confused about this. There is too much at stake for a person to believe something that is not true.
The way people talk today it sounds like they are the ones who are deciding what is going to happen in eternity. They use the word “believe” like it has power to change truth. Some flippantly say: “I don’t believe there is a hell.” Others say: “I don’t believe there is a God.” They say these things like their belief is going to change the outcome of eternity.

The big question here is, what is true? What a person believes isn’t going to change what is true. Many are blinding themselves from the truth by means of their beliefs. The reason Jesus makes it clear about heaven and hell is so people will better understand what is at stake.
