JESUS’ SERMON: Mat 5:17-19 (NIV) Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Here’s What I Believe
A lot of thought and effort have been put into handling this sin dilemma.
  • We could just get rid of the speed limit signs and put us all on the honor system. This is the group that says there are no absolutes. They say there are no sins.

  • Another suggestion has been put forth that we put a microchip in each person’s car. Each person programs their chip with the number they think the speed limit should be. Then as they drive by the speed limit sign, the sign receives the signal from their car and changes to that person’s speed limit number.

These are the people that say: “If it feels good, do it.”
They think there are many ways to heaven. Just pick the religion or mixture of religions that works for you and go with it. They believe that God will understand and honor whatever you personally believe.

  • And then there is the group that suggests we just set the speed limit to 120 miles per hour. Since the majority of us don’t have a car that can go much faster than that, problem solved. These are the people that say the convictions of the society set the standard. If everyone is doing it, it must be okay.

They realize that there needs to be some kind of a rule. Otherwise there would be anarchy. So, let’s just get together and make up some rules that most of us agree with and that will be sin.

All of the above theories are based on one major premise. Man is essentially good. He just needs a good environment inside of which to grow. If he gets that, he will be fine. Here is how God sees all of this.
