JESUS’ SERMON: Mat 5:17-19 (NIV) Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

The Law - Continued
The Holy Spirit Is Doing His Job John 16:8 (NIV) When He comes, He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment.
Since the Holy Spirit has become the law for our world, we must be willing to do our part. We, working together with the Holy Spirit, can help our generation learn to fear the Lord. Psa 111:10 (NIV) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts have good understanding. To Him belongs eternal praise. |
Prov 9:10 (NIV) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
A fear of God will help us want to live according to God’s commandments. The fear by itself will not produce success in living out those commandments. But, we always start with a fear of the Lord which points us to the spiritual need. From there we turn to the Holy Spirit Who brings transformation in that area of our lives through power and love. It provides the minister with guardrails on each side of their path. As long as they walk in the truth of God, they don’t need the guardrails of the fear of the Lord. But, if they start to wander away from Him, the fear of the Lord helps them see their need of staying true to Him. |
