We Have To Trust God With Our Finances
Mat 6:27 (NIV) Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Worrying may not add a single hour to our life, but, it definitely can cause us to find a source of money that God hasn’t chosen to supply our needs through. We often think, if God isn’t going to send me the money I need, then I will go get it for myself. That is the kind of worry Jesus is talking about. If God weren't watching out for us all this time, we would already be dead. Then we wouldn’t need a house, clothes, food, and a bed to sleep in. Why aren’t we dead? Because God has been keeping us alive all this time. If He can do that, can we believe He will take care of all our needs? The major issue here is the fact that our definition of serving money and God’s definition is totally different. We don’t think we are serving money; but, we are often wrong. We don’t want to wait until eternity to find out we are wrong; Jesus is dealing with it now. Gradually Jesus’ words are chipping away at our distrust in God. He is slowly prying us away from faith in money. This work He is doing here is vital to our entire relationship with God, our self, and others. Since serving God and serving money at the same time cannot be done, somehow we are going to have to be set free from serving money. |
Here are the things we need to allow Jesus to help us realize about God:
