If we are doing what we are doing to make sure we have money because we lack faith in God, then this passage will help. But, how do we know if we are operating out of a lack of faith. It is easy for us to say that God gave us the job we have. We have the ability to say that our lifestyle is sanctioned by God. We can look at all our success and accomplishments and give God the glory for them.

It isn’t until God sticks His hand out and asks us to share it with fellow Christians that we find a problem. Up to that point we, like the lily, had all we had as a direct blessing from God.

We, like Solomon, could say that it all belonged to God. But, does it really? If it belongs to God, then He can ask for it and we will give it. Jesus is trying to help us give it away. He is asking us to look at the lily. How does the lily get all its beautiful clothing? How does it out dress Solomon?
