The Holy Spirit is your good works for bringing the life and ministry of Jesus into your life and ministry. God Works Two Ways With Two Types Of People
Mat 15:12-16 (NIV) Then the disciples came to Him and asked, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?” He replied, “Every plant that My heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. Leave them; they are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” Peter said, “Explain the parable to us.” “Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them. One of two things are happening in a person’s life; either they are being prepared for the work of God or they are being prepared for being pulled up by the roots. Depending on what their decision is, they are all advancing in one direction or the other. Some are growing into mature Christians and others are growing into having depraved minds. God is using His Holy Spirit and His mentors and ministers to separate all of mankind like sheep and goats. God Is Cultivating Christians And Weeding Out Rejecters
1 Cor 12:28 (NIV) And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. God has people He gives ministerial or service gifts to so as to help a person get started (saved), helped to grow spiritually (sanctification), get trained to do ministry to others, and find their place in the body of Jesus so they can serve. John 15:1-2 (NIV) I am the true vine, and My Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. God is working directly with those He is removing from His work by “pulling them up by the roots.” Those He is saving, growing spiritually, and training He is challenging their dullness and unbelief. In other words, He is challenging those aspects of their spiritual eyesight and hearing so they will be able to see His truth and hear His voice. Once He solves this problem, He is able to have a relationship with them through clear communication. Mentors And Ministers Must Have Their Priorities Straight
Mat 18:12-13 (NIV) What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. God doesn’t want us “baby sitting” Christians for the rest of their lives. Heb 5:11-12 (NIV) We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! We find ourselves trying to keep people alive that God is pulling up by the roots and neglecting billions of people who haven’t been given a chance yet. Christianity is a forward moving process. It isn’t designed to keep doing the same things over and over again with the same people. God expects an unsaved person to learn what the benefits are and then decide whether or not they are going to give it a try. He expects the new Christians to get trained and grow into spiritually mature mentors and ministers. God Keeps Things Growing And Producing
Eph 4:11 (NIV) It was He Who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers.
These are the five major service ministries that Jesus uses to keep Christianity moving forward in the lives of people and in all the places of the world. If an unsaved person comes to Jesus and then makes a permanent commitment to God, God will help them grow and get trained until they are mentoring and ministering in the lives of the unsaved, the new and untrained Christians, and the new and untrained mentors and ministers. Here is how these five ministries keep Christianity advancing in people’s lives and around the world. Apostles are to be traveling around starting new works in new places; prophets are to be presenting the rhema or spoken words of Jesus that He wants individuals to know; evangelists are to be working with the unsaved helping them come to Jesus by making sure they know the benefits of Christianity and how to become a Christian; pastors are to be helping the new and untrained Christians to grow spiritually and to share this growth with those around them; and teachers are to help the new and untrained Christians learn God’s Word and the new and growing ministers be trained for the ministry. If an unsaved person makes a permanent commitment to Jesus and grows and matures, then God will put them into His work and ministry so they can produce a lot of fruit. He will use them to share their victories with many people as a mentor; and, He will train and empower them to become ministers who are able to advance the work of God. John 15:5-6 (NIV) I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he WILL bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not REMAIN in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. |
That is what God wants to be doing in and through us to reach the world with the life and ministry of Jesus. Now let’s look at what God is doing on His own to make sure everyone gets a chance to join Him in His family and in His Kingdom. It’s ALL God
John 14:15-19 (NIV) If you love Me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever--the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see Me anymore, but you will see Me. Because I live, you also will live. God’s work takes place all the time, everywhere. Some of it is THROUGH us humans and some of it is IN us humans. Some of the work of God takes place THROUGH mature Christians, mentors, and ministers. But, most of God’s work takes place directly IN the person God is working on. God mainly works directly in us so that we have our greatest relationship with Him. All the power gifts of the Holy Spirit and all the service or ministry gifts of Jesus are to help mature Christians lead people into a close relationship with God for themselves. We MUST Lead People To God
John 14:26-28 (NIV) But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. You heard Me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. This is Who God is and what He does. Our job MUST stay in the area of simply pointing people toward the information that helps them develop a closer, clearer, stronger, and constant relationship with God. ALL our ministry MUST stay in the area of explaining, living out, and ministering a work that points to all the principles and applications that bring people to a place where they have their own private, personal relationship with God that meets ALL their needs. We Must Be An Open, Clear Channel Straight To God
John 15:26 (NIV) When the Counselor comes, Whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth Who goes out from the Father, He will testify about Me. If we want the life and ministry of Jesus flowing in and through us, we have to get out of His way and allow Him to show His self to everyone. It has to be clear to us what our job is and what God’s job is. If we start telling people what they HAVE to belief and how they HAVE to live, then we have moved out of the life and ministry of Jesus that He has for us. We must do a GOOD job of providing EVERY Scripture we possibly can to EVERYONE so they will know EVERYTHING possible that will help them gain a better and closer relationship with God. Once we have done EVERYTHING we can do to point them to God, we have to get out of His way and allow Him to take it from there. He will pull some up by the roots; and He will challenge and train others on how to better hear, recognize, and obey His voice. The Holy Spirit WILL Do His Work
John 16:5-7 (NIV) Now I am going to Him Who sent Me, yet none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief. But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. Jesus has given us the Holy Spirit Who is at work in us, through us, and around us. He is doing the ministry of Jesus in us so as to give us Jesus’ life; He is doing the ministry through us so as to use us to do the ministry of Jesus to those around us; and He is working the miracles of Jesus in our and other’s circumstances so as to bless us with all the provisions of God. John 16:12-13 (NIV) I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. The Holy Spirit has to be the One Who decides what people hear. We can minister to people all we want; but, unless the Holy Spirit helps them hear and understand it, it will be ignored and rejected. People can only see and hear from our ministry and life those things the Holy Spirit reveals to them. Our words and actions don’t do anything to them or for them directly. The Holy Spirit has to take all of these things and help them be able to hear, understand, and apply them. We Must Remain Humble Before God
1 Cor 3:7-8 (NIV) So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, Who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. We get rewarded in eternity for the fact that we did what we were commanded to do; but, it was all God that actually brought about all the results we see and experience. If we understand all of this, we won’t over organize the work of God. We will keep it simple and financially basic so we can spend as much time as possible with God and with hurting people. |
