Holy Spirit Power
No Human Effort Can Do It
The Holy Spirit is your power for bringing the life and ministry of Jesus into your life and ministry. The requirements of Jesus are pretty intense. No one is going to be able to yield to such a strict way of life without the Holy Spirit’s power and leadership. Your commitment to Jesus must be total and complete, if you want to be a World Changer. To be one of Jesus’ disciples you are going to have to be willing to be where He is, doing what He is doing, saying what He is saying, and working with the people He is working with. It is a life of total submission to Him, His plan, and purpose. That isn't something you or anyone else can even be willing to do. You just have to be willing to be willing. No one is going to be able to use human effort or human determination to follow Jesus, live His life, and do His ministry. However, anyone that knows how to apply The Three Keys To All Of Christianity in Matthew 7:7-11 to their life, can use their desire, study, prayer, faith, love, and faith-action to get the dedication, commitment, and submission needed to come after Jesus. Don’t Try--Pray!
If you look at Jesus’ requirements and think about them, you will fail. If you look at them and try to decide whether or not you can live up to them, you will get discouraged. But, according to Matthew 11:28-30, if you lay all your weaknesses out before Him, He will give you all you need, to follow Him. Mat 11:28-30 (NIV) “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” John 15:7 (NIV) IF you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 2 Cor 12:9 (NIV) But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, SO THAT Christ’s power may rest on me. |
Living The Jesus-Life
This Is How It Works
1 Cor 2:3-5 (NIV) I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, SO THAT your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power. 2 Cor 11:30 (NIV) If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. 2 Cor 13:3-4 (NIV) Since you are demanding proof that Christ is speaking through me, He is not weak in dealing with you, but is powerful among you. For to be sure, He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by God’s power. Likewise, we are weak in Him, yet by God’s power we will live with Him to serve you. Weakness Provides Room For Jesus’ Power
We are going to be looking at the life and ministry of the Lord and King of the universe. He is going to be wanting to do God-sized things for the people of this world. And, He is going to want to do them though His body, His people called His church.
As hard as it is for us to fully understand weakness, Jesus needs your weakness so He can fill it with His strength. The Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-12 are all about you being weak and craving (hungering and thirsting) for Him and His life and ministry. The Beatitudes are the attitudes of Jesus; and therefore must be your attitudes, if you are going to be able to yield to His life and His ministry. Phil 2:5-8 (NIV) Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death--even death on a cross! The Holy Spirit will help you get ready to follow after Jesus. |
