Devotions With Jesus
Through Beginning: Year One

The sixth course, Hearing God’s Voice, introduces us into the way for us to be able to hear what God has to say to us personally.

  • The Pursuit of God: In this course we saw that God has done a lot of things over the centuries by speaking to people about His plan for their life and the lives of those around them. He spoke to them about how He was going to use them to bring about His plan for everyone. If those people hadn’t been able to hear His voice, none of the Old and New Testament events would have taken place. All of God’s pursuits have been accomplished through working with people. We will be examining our relationship with God, as we compare the way He has worked in the past with the way He wants to work through you.

  • The Greatness of God: This course helped us see how important it is to listen to God. We saw His greatness and compared it with our needs. If we can’t hear His voice, then we aren’t going to be able to get all this greatness into our lives and ministries. We have to be directed into the great work He is calling us to. The more we learn how to listen and understand what God is saying to us, the more our life grows into that greatness. The more our life grows into that greatness, the more people are going to be blessed through us.

  • The Dream: Learning how to hear God’s voice and getting the dream He has for you, runs along the same basic Biblical and spiritual principles. We have to be able to hear His specific instructions and information in order to know what His dream is for our personal lives. Each person’s dream and life plan is unique to them. We all have to be able to hear from our heavenly Father in order to get that information. Your dream will be drawn out for you in a greater fashion, as you learn how to hear from God more and more.
  • The Children of God: There is some general information that we all need to know, as God’s children. But, there is some specific information that your heavenly Father wants to communicate to you as an individual. Being able to not only talk to Him, but to be able to let Him talk to you is a vital part of your relationship with Him. You need to be able to tell Him what you feel and need; then you need to be able to hear what His response is to your prayer.

  • The Word of God: God isn’t going to say anything to us that doesn’t agree with His Word, the Bible. The Bible helps us know whether or not it is God talking to us. Learning how to hear God’s voice and learning what the Bible says is a very important relationship. These two courses take us into a vital area of reading the Bible and then getting its interpretation from God. If humans decide what the Bible means, then we are going to be in trouble. We and all other humans are not the authority concerning what the Bible means when it says something. To get that interpretation, we have to be able to listen to God’s explanation for what He meant when He had each Scripture written.

  • Hearing God’s Voice: This course takes us into the vital area of learning how to listen to God, when He is trying to give us personal direction. He has specific things He needs to be telling you all the time. You need His guidance and instruction as you make the various decisions for your life. He is talking to you in your desires, your passions, your interests, your ideas, your thoughts, and your feelings. However, there are other sources of influence that are speaking to them as well. This course goes over the Biblical information on how to listen for God’s voice, what to expect when He speaks, and how to avoid all other ideas, thoughts, and voices that would try to confuse you.
