Devotions With Jesus
Through Beginning: Year One

The eleventh course, Building Relationships, is the door to all that God is concerned about. Whether you look at the Ten Commandments or the Sermon On The Mount, God talks to us about a relationship with Him and relationships with those around us. Relationships are often the area where we struggle the most. The Bible has awesome guidance and power to heal all our relationship issues and make our life wonderful.

  • The Pursuit of God: As we study the character of God, it helps us build a relationship with God. All other relationships emanate out of our relationship with God. Start off with a special relationship with God. He is much easier to get along with than people. Once you have learned how to establish a great relationship with Him, you will have the principles for establishing a relationship with people. The whole purpose of this course is to help us understand, appreciate, and learn to love God. It is designed to dispel barriers that stand between you and God. Once all obstructions are removed, we are better able to establish a close and intimate relationship with Him.

  • The Greatness of God: This course really helps you want to get close to God. His greatness is so wonderful that we can see how He can meet all our needs and loves us more than we could have hoped for. It helps us stop looking to all the wrong places for help, friendship, acceptance, and healing. The time and effort that we would have put in all the wrong places is saved; and we are blessed with the best relationship we were ever going to find.

  • The Dream: The dream God put in your heart is representing all of the wonderful things He wants to do for the people around you by working through you. This dream is revealing to you just how wonderful it is going to be when you yield to God’s plan. It shows you how much of a blessing it is going to be in your life and how tremendous it is going to be for others as they experience God’s power through your life. The dream God has for you is going to be the method He is going to use to help you build relationships with Him and the people around you. People have great needs and God has great answers. But, because they don’t yet trust Him or you, they won’t receive what He is trying to supply them through you. Once you yield to the dream, it will make the necessary changes to those relationships with Him and people.

  • The Children of God: All of your inheritances that you are receiving now and will receive throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity will be based on the relationship you have with God. Your relationship with God is based on the fact that you are His child. There is little that God won’t do for you just because you are His child. The only things that this relationship will not provide for you are those things that would be evil and harmful to you and those around you. God only provides His children good things; and He uses His incredible wisdom and foresight to make sure that all He gives you is good.

  • The Word of God: If we are going to learn how to have a relationship with God and people, it is going to take our studying the Word of God. The Bible is our source of instruction that the Holy Spirit uses to reveal the truths about all relationships. The Bible dispels all misunderstandings and confusions we have about relationships. As the Holy Spirit explains what the Bible means, we start to better understand how to have meaningful, successful relationships with God and people.

  • Hearing God’s Voice: Communication is the most important part of any relationship. Being able to talk to God and Him talk to you is vital to your relationship growing with Him. When great ideas enter your thinking and you realize that it is God talking to you, this enables you to grow in your love and appreciation for Him. Your relationship builds into a meaningful friendship that heals your heart and directs your life into great accomplishments. You and God are able to work together and help a lot of hurting people. This builds your relationships with many new friends.
  • God’s Answers to Prayer: Once the Holy Spirit has explained to us God’s Word and what it means, it becomes our responsibility to start asking God for these things. Prayer for good relationships is a prayer that God loves to honor. As long as our prayers are in line with the Bible and in line with God’s will for our life, we will start experiencing wonderful miracles in our relationship with God and people.

  • The Kingdom: Most of our eternal rewards are going to be based on how we treated people, when we were living on this earth. Love should be our number one motive for wanting to treat people with respect and kindness. However, another motive should be to prepare for eternity. God has wonderful rewards for those who excel in their relationship with Him and people. We need to understand how important it is to prepare for eternity by allowing God to improve our relationships.

  • Born to Win: The world typically wins by defeating others. In their method of winning, someone has to lose in order for someone else to win. In God’s order, the more we help others to win, the more we win with God. God’s earthly and eternal rewards are based on how many and how often we help others to win. This approach to life, needless to say, wins a lot of hearts over to us. Winning using this method causes us to have an unlimited amount of friends and business associates. Another attitude God has to that the more we serve others, the more we serve Him. In other words, the better our relationships are with people, the better our relationship grows with God. That is how we were born to win.

  • The Good News: This is a real relationship builder. People who specialize in good news have many more friends than those who excel in bad news. Relationships that are built around the good news of God are relationships that foster joy, happiness, love, peace, friendliness, and kindness. God lifts us up to a new level of excitement and success, as we bring His good news into the relationships we have with people.

  • Building Relationships: Our attitudes toward people who are physically sick are often different from those who are spiritually sick. We need to treat all who are suffering from various spiritual diseases with the same love, concern, skill, and non-judgmental attitudes as they do in a hospital. As we study how to turn our church into a spiritual hospital, we will expand our ministry into the lives of people who desperately need our help. We also learn how to better reach our community with the powerful principles of the Bible.

Jesus’ attitudes toward people who are physically sick are the same as those who are spiritually sick. He treats all who are suffering from various spiritual diseases with the same and even greater love, concern, skill, and non-judgmental attitudes as they do in a hospital. His life being lived through us will turn our church into a spiritual hospital. By Jesus being allowed to live His life and do His ministry through us, we will be able to expand the ministry that Jesus gives us into the lives of many more people who desperately need His help. Jesus’ life and ministry will help us better reach our community with the powerful principles of the Bible. Let’s take a look at what it is going to take to start being blessed by God and being a blessing to the people around us.
