Devotions With Jesus
Through Beginning: Year One

The seventh course, God’s Answers To Prayer, introduces us into the wonderful relationship of talking to God and God talking to us.

  • The Pursuit of God: This course helped us trust God enough so we would want to talk to Him. It helped to breakdown those barriers of fear and distrust so we would be willing to come to God in total trust. Prayer isn’t just us talking to God, asking Him for things, and waiting for Him to do something for us, it also includes God working with us, teaching us, explaining things to us, and having a close and intimate relationship with us. Once we learn to really trust Him, the lines of communication open up. Through prayer, we and God start talking to each other in a beautiful and beneficial way. These two courses help to open up a relationship with God that is more wonderful than any other way of life.

  • The Greatness of God: Why pray to a god who is powerless and loveless. That would be a useless effort. However, God is powerful in His abilities and in His love. There is no one who is big enough or powerful enough to keep Him from meeting the needs of those who pray and believe in Him. No one can prevent Him from doing all that He says He will do. When we pray to our heavenly Father with the realization of how great He really is, our prayers take on a whole new level of faith and trust. When that happens, our life takes on a whole new level of victory.

  • The Dream: As we start communicating with God, a lot of those times of close fellowship with Him will be discussions about His plans. He will be discussing the dream He wants you to hold in your heart for your future. But, you will be making a lot of decisions that affect that dream. Praying about each decision, hearing His voice, searching His Word, and waiting until His will is clear will be the only way you will see God’s dream come true for you. Through each of these courses you have started trusting, believing, inheriting, studying, hearing, and praying for the dream that God is putting in your heart and fulfilling in your life.

  • The Children of God: You will come to God as His child rather than as a stranger or a person He doesn’t like very much. You will know He wants to answer all your prayers in the very best way, because you are His child. Talking to your heavenly Father, as your heavenly Father, will shape your prayers into a loving conversation. The more you talk to Him in this manner, the more you will learn to love Him. There is nothing like getting to know Him by talking (praying) to Him and Him talking to you. This will dispel all of your doubts, fears, apprehensions, reservations, and misunderstandings.
  • The Word of God: This study is helping structure your prayers so you will know what to pray for, how to pray, when to pray, and where to pray. One of the aspects of the Word of God, the Bible, is it is like a magazine from a department store. It is your spiritual shopping guide to let you know all that is available for you to pray for. As we said before, it is your map guiding you toward a wonderful life. Also it is an instruction manual that tells you all you need to know so you will be able to do those things God asks you to do. As you talk to Him and He talks to you, you will start discussing aspects of the Bible that you haven’t understood. His Word will come alive, as you and He go over His Word together.

  • Hearing God’s Voice: Some of God’s answers to prayer involve Him letting you know what His will is for your life. You don’t always know what is best for you. Your prayers can be requests for things that would hurt or even destroy you. You always need God’s input into the areas where you are asking for intervention and change in your life. Being able to hear what God has to say on a prayer issue, is vital to helping you know what to pray for, when to pray, and how to pray. This course working together with the God’s Answers To Prayer course, will help you be able to get a lot more prayers answered positively.

  • God’s Answers to Prayer: Reading the Bible without asking God to install those things you read about into your life is like window shopping. A wish list is more of a source of agitation than a blessing, if you never get to experience the things you need and want. Learning how, when, what, and where to pray changes your wish list into a shopping list. You will soon realize that you need everything God has to offer. You will find out that God wants you to reach out for all His provisions. It isn’t greed, for us to pursue Him and His provisions. Everything God offers is a vital necessity for you and those around you. However, the Bible explains that we won’t get those things, if we don’t ask Him for them, which is what prayer is. You need them; you can’t live without them; and you have to ask for them in order to receive them.
