A lot of Christians think there isn’t much in common with eternity and life here on earth. Your friend may see church, the Bible, and Christianity as being completely separate from their everyday life. Life doesn’t start to make sense until Jesus helps them see that EVERYTHING in this life has to do with spiritual and eternal issues. The Bible is trying to show the correlation between now and God’s eternal kingdom. The more you “succeed” in this life the more you will win in eternity. The problem is in the definition of the word success.

Your friend needs to see that Jesus defines success in an entirely different way. If they accumulate an incredible amount of wealth and then horde it, they lose. If they use it to be helped and help others, they win. If they spend their entire life just caring for themselves and their family, they lose. But if they take themselves and those around them into getting involved in win/win situations, they succeed now and in eternity.

Have you noticed that just about the time a person gets to the place where they are the best they have ever been with their knowledge, training, experiences, and skills--they die? They get to a place where, if their body would let them, they could excel in an incredible way. If they had only known what they know now, they wouldn’t have made so many mistakes, they wouldn’t have had such a hard time learning the right things, and they would have been able to do things with great skill, abilities, and knowledge. But, if they realize this life isn’t the end, they will see that they can take it all into eternity.

This series is all about the correlation between time and eternity. The more your friend understands what they are going to experience in eternity, the more they will know what to excel in now. This is a great series for letting Jesus get you and them ready for life here and in eternity with God.
