Sermon Three
“The Great Things About A Dad”

It Your Commitment
Josh 24:15 (NIV) But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD. Whether you had a great dad or didn’t really have a dad, you can still make this commitment for you and your child. It actually starts with a desire in your heart to serve God for you and your family.

God is waiting on you to decide that you want to get and give all He has to offer. Whether your dad was inadequate or very involved spiritually, you have to make your decision on your own. What your dad did or didn’t do must only be used to motivate you to do better. With God on your side, whatever your life was like, it was orchestrated by God to give you your best opportunity to excel in living your life for your family with power and success.
It Up To You
Whether your child is responsive or very pliable, it takes the Bible to lead you in the right direction. If you are going to be a true dad, then your number one responsibility is to lead your child in the great things of God. If they end up thinking that the things of this world are more important than the things in the Bible, it is you that God will use to help them see things from an eternal perspective. No matter how things have gone with your child so far, nothing is impossible with God. Pray and get His help.

The first and formost thing for you to do to be a great dad is, get and maintain a close and intimate relationship with your heavenly Father. The closer you get to Him the better your chances are for seeing things head in a wonderful direction in your child. You can’t even get close to accomplishing spiritual things unless you are persuing God with all your heart. The more you grow in you Bible, in your prayers, and in your allowing God to flow through you, the more miracles you will see in your child.
