All kinds of studies have been done. Some have studied other generations. Others have even gone back to the book of Acts and tried to find out more about what made them so successful. Large quantities of books have been written on what those authors found out through all their extensive research. Yet, the population is growing at an astounding rate, our responsibilities are increasing far beyond our abilities to respond, and we keep trying to set something in motion that will somehow get a big enough movement on the move.

We all know that the Bible holds the answers to our questions. Somewhere in between its two covers lies the answer to our needy world. What exactly would God do if He were to extend His mighty Christian movement to every person in our generation? How would such a movement affect us as Christian leaders? How are we going to get the answers to these questions? I know this sounds strange; but, how about us asking Jesus?

Mat 28:18-20 (NIV) Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey EVERYTHING I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Jesus developed disciples and they were world changers. We develop disciples and they are okay; they just aren’t world changers. Something happened between the first disciples and those that are coming on the scene today. Is it because they are a copy of a copy? Have they somehow lost resolution like a copy of a picture, then a copy of that copy of a picture, then a copy of a copy of that copy of a picture? It really looks like that is exactly what has happened.

We need to know exactly how He did what He did to start the movement that is affecting our world today?

If we are willing to accept the possibility that the worldwide Christian movement has bogged down in some areas of the world because of us, then we are going to have to be willing to expose all our opinions to Jesus. We are going to have to let Him show us what it takes to get disciples produced in all nations.

Let’s be willing to find out whether or not Jesus agrees with our procedures. Is there a way to go about finding out? Absolutely! We would need to go back to the Gospels and sit at the Master’s feet. No one is going to argue that Jesus didn’t know how to start and maintain a worldwide movement. We all know He knew how to start it and then set in motion a way to maintain it and keep it moving forward. The question is, what do we need to do so we can start learning from Him?

Jesus gave us major KEYS as He presented the “Great Commission.” And, we have responded to most of the keys. We got the “go” part. We even got the “make disciples” part. As a matter of fact, we even got the “of all nations” part. What a lot of us didn’t get was the “teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” part.

Therefore GO and MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey EVERYTHING I have commanded you.
