What if you just lived your life by allowing job opportunities, people, and circumstances push you around and decide where you would end up at the end of your life? That would be like a sail boat with the sails out just going wherever the wind blew and the waves pushed it. Most boats, like that, would either end up at the bottom of the water or smashed on the rocks on the shore. But, even if that didn’t happen, it would never reach any special destination. It’s important that you not live your life like that.

As you are going through these material, Jesus will take you on a step-by-step journey. He has a plan, a strategy, special methods, and powerful training. He will take you into the great life-success goal He has for you. GPS maps allow you to see the roads that are available to you. Rather than having to blaze your own trail or discover what roads are out there, rather than using a trial and error system, these maps make it seem like you have already been there. They make it seem like you have gone all those places and know where all the roads are and where they lead. The Bible is like that; but, you must use it the right way. A GPS map has to be used a certain way; or, you will base your trip on it and end up somewhere else.

With Jesus training you in the Bible and showing you how to use it, you can plan out the route you want to take. You will know what to expect, as you come to each fork and crossroad in life. It will be fairly simple for you to get where you want to go because you have a map! That is what the Bible is all about; it lets you live your life for the first time; but, you are able to live it with skill, knowledge, experience, and power.

Jesus’ objective is to help you be convinced that this is the training and spiritual growth you need. If you are partially convinced, then you will start this program with a casual and a secondary commitment. With you joining Jesus in a study about eternal life, this is actually a vital decision you are considering. He is providing you with spiritual food that will help you in ways you won’t often get the opportunity to receive. He won’t be telling you what to live; He will be teaching you how and why to live the Christian life.

Most books, sermons, studies, small groups, and church services have to be a “one-size-fits-all” presentation. If a church service is too mature in its presentation, the new and the weak will be overwhelmed. If the books, in the Christian bookstore are too mature, few will buy them. If small groups, retreats, and seminars are too intense, many will drop out. So, like when you went to school, Jesus will build a spiritual foundation and then start building spiritual walls on it. He will be able to keep your interest, because you will need the information, so you can live life.
