The first spiritual study we offer is one that seldom gets covered by most churches and most Christians. Let’s say you go into a car dealership to buy a car. Your old car is on its last leg and you know you are going to have to buy a new one. So you enter the main lobby of the dealership and a bunch of salespeople are standing there waiting to grab you and try to sell you a car.

One of the sales people gets to you first and takes you into their small office. Suppose they reach into their desk and pull out a contract and ask you to sign it. In shock, you let them know that you aren’t going to sign ANY contract until you know you want the car they are trying to sell you. Suppose they laugh at you and tell you they aren’t going to allow you to drive any of their cars until you have signed a contract for it.

This is ridiculous isn’t it? Most, if not all, salespeople know you aren’t going to sign any contracts until you have tried some of the cars you indicated you were interested in. But, in churches and with a lot of Christians this is the method they use. They try to get people to sign a contract with Jesus to become a Christian by admitting they are a sinner and praying the sinner’s prayer.

Many an unsaved person has been taken into the steps on how to get salvation before they are knowledgeable on why they need salvation. The unsaved person has no idea what Christianity is going to do for them. It is only clear to the Christian “salesperson.” Many a new Christian starts their life out as a Christian with almost no knowledge of what the benefits are for becoming a Christian.
